Used to assess the presence of autoimmune thyroid disease and can precede the development of hypothyroidism by 2 to 3 years. False-positive TGAA results can occur for 30 to 45 days following vaccination. The presence of TGAA autoantibody does not indicate hypothyroidism, nor does the presence of autoantibody predict the future development of hypothyroidism. This test is canine-specific.
